Happy New Year! I hope that your 2014 was fantastic and that your 2015 brings you much happiness! I had a wonderful 2014 and 2015 has started out incredible as well. I'm excited to see what the year brings!
One of my latest crafties is this wood snowman candle holder:
I had Hubs cut me a piece of 4x4 and a nose. We drilled a hole deep and wide enough for the candle to fit nicely into and then I painted and sanded him and then we attached the nose and scarf. So easy!
He is perfect to leave up all winter long!

Reversible Santa & Snowman Sign
Hello! I hope you had as wonderful of a Thanksgiving as I did! I can't believe how quickly 2014 has gone by. I definitely haven't blogged nearly as much as I had planned, but it's okay because as I've looked back at my pictures from the last 11 months, I can honestly say that this year has been fantastic. My arm issues and surgery were not at all fun and although it prevented me from crafting and blogging, I was still able to make some incredible memories with my family and see some beautiful parts of our country. Soooo, hopefully 2015 can be about balance and blogging more!
Anyhow, I've done a little bit of crafting and needed something "Christmasy" for my porch. This is what I came up with:
It stands about 4 feet tall. The best part about it is that I made it reversible, so when Christmas is over, I can just turn it around, add a hat and scarf and I will have this for my winter porch:
He is covered in a an adorable coat of glitter paint, which my camera never shows very well, but he truly is darling and sparkly!

Another 2x4 Snowman
I love snowmen! They are my absolute favorite thing to decorate with for the month of January. A few years ago, I made and posted this cute guy:
I love him! He sits on my porch. I decided that he needed a buddy to sit with him, so this is what I came up with:
Don't they look super cute together?!

Snowman Door Hanger
This is what I made while watching season 1 of The Walking Dead, (which by the way is AWESOME!):
I needed a new door hanger for my winter porch and I think he is perfect!
And, if I craft while watching an entire season of any show, I don't feel nearly as guilty about it :)

Baby It's Cold Outside Rustic Wood Sign
We are near the end of our first week of January 2014 and I have so far kept my New Year's resolutions! Yay me! One of my resolutions is to craft at least once a week. I find that it really relaxes me and also makes me feel like I've accomplished something. Another resolution is to blog at least once a week. Because I work full time outside of my home, this is actually a really big challenge for me, but again, it's something that I truly enjoy doing and want to keep up on it. So, here is one of my latest creations:
I'm in Utah, so this is truly applicable! As always, i used my Silhouette Cameo to design this.
Instead of using vinyl for the wording and snowflakes, I painted them and then antiqued the board. I love the way it looks on my winter hutch:
Another shot of the winter hutch lit up, as well as my table centerpiece snowmen!
I hope everyone had a safe New Year's. 2014 is going to be a terrific year!

Santa Door Hanger
Hubs cut the wood out for this door hanger about 4 years ago! I finally got around to painting him:
I don't know why it took me so long, but I love him! He looks darling on my porch with my other decorations:
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

More Easy Friend or Neighbor Gifts...
I'm always stressed about what to do for neighbors and my kiddo's friends for gifts. Here are a few recent and relatively easy & inexpensive) DIY gifts that I made:
Noel Block:
Decorated Wood Letters that are also picture holders (perfect for girls!):
Another example:
Twine Wrapped Star hanger, made from gluing paint sticks into a star shape (this can also be done on a much smaller scale to make ornaments by using Popsicle sticks):
Ice Cream Basket:
And finally, for your dog loving friends/neighbors:

I love yarn pom poms! I think they are so fun. I decided to make a winter wreath using pom poms:
So easy and perfect for winter!

Winter Door Hanger...
My cute painted mini wood shovel:
I painted the base silver and the handle brown, added some "snow" and then used a cute snowman rub on for the rest and tied a cute snowflake ribbon as the hanger:
Instead of hanging it on the door this year, I put it on my fence:
Snowmen are my favorite for the month of January!!!

Frosty The Snowman Plaque...
I love to draw and paint cute little characters. I haven't done it in awhile so one day Hubs and I finally decided to catch up on the entire last season of Desperate Housewives so I pulled out my pencil/sketchpad/paints/scrapbook paper, etc. and here is what I came up with:
I drew my snowman with a pencil and then took my craft paint and painted him in. Then I cut him out and mod podged the background scrapbook paper to a piece of foam board. Then I mod podged the snowman, the letter and the snowflakes to the board, inked around the edges and added the rhinestones to the center of the snowflakes. I also put some glitter paint on his coat and scarf:
Anyways, I think he turned out cute and I had a blast painting him :)

Glass Jar Snowmen...
I have this thing for snowmen. I just love them! I can't jump from Christmas deco's straight into Valentines because for the month of January, I decorate with snowmen and all things snow/winter related. I decided to make some snowmen out of two old spaghetti jars and a dollar store glass vase. Here is what they look like:
I used buttons for eyes and orange burlap glued to orange cardstock for the noses.
I bought little push on/off round LED lights to go inside of them. They look adorable all lit up!!! This was a fun project, one that I really wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but they sure do look cute on my coffee table :)

Plate of the Month, January....
I make a plate for each month to display in my kitchen. This is the one that stays up throughout the month of January:
I got the silver plate from Hobby Lobby along with sparkly foam snowflake stickers. Cut the vinyl and put it all on the plate. Totally easy and quick!

2x4 Snow Blocks
Hubs and I made 20 sets of these cute SNOW blocks as Christmas gifts for friends, yes that means we had 80 blocks to cut, sand, paint, resand, stain and decorate. It was quite the process, but I just love the finished product:
The only bummer is that we didn't even make one to keep for us :( I intend to make another though! Linking to: hodgepodge-friday

Candy Cane Door Hanger....
Hubs cut these candy canes out for me 2 years ago... Yes, you read that correctly, they have been sitting in my craft "to-do" box for 2 stinking years! I finally pulled them out and painted these babies up:
It really should NOT have taken me two years to get this done, shame on me!!!
I love how it turned out though ;)

Glitter Eyelash Yarn Christmas Trees....
I made these super cute, fast and easy tree's over the weekend:
I used the Martha Stewart Glitter Eyelash yarn in green, red and silver, it is the cutest stuff ever! I love Martha!
I also used 3 styrofoam trees in different sizes.
Using a glue gun, I wrapped the yarn tightly around each tree and dabbed glue in various spots to hold it, then I added a stars to the top of each.
The silver one:
The green one:
The red one:
All three:
I love how they turned out!
