Serendipity Sign...

Serendipity
n. pl. ser·en·dip·i·ties

1. The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident.

A friend asked me to make this sign for her.  I wasn't sure what serendipty even meant, other than I remembered that there had been a fairy tale that had used the word.  I don't like making things if I don't understand what the meaning behind them is, so I googled it and was so happy when I saw the meaning!  It's beautiful!  Who doesn't love to make a fortunate discovery by accident?  Isn't this how most of us find love?  I hope she loves the sign as much as I do, the picture doesn't do it justice!

Home Blocks & Burlap Rosettes...

So I made these blocks forever ago:
Pretty blah right?

I got tired of looking at them so I pulled them off their shelf and did this to them:

I added a few coats of paint, ripped off the black vinyl, distressed them and added a some jute and a few burlap rosettes.

I like them SO much better :)

Plate Wall Decor...

I made this for my sister's birthday awhile back:

I bought the plates to match her colors, cut the vinyl on my Cricket, placed them on the plates, bought her a wall hanger to put them in and ta-DA! Totally easy gift for friends, family or Mother's Day :)

Altered Album, Easy Gift Idea...

I altered this photo album for one of my daughter's school projects awhile back. Here is what it looked like when I bought it at the dollar store:

Cute, but pretty cheesy.  Here is what it looked like after I altered it:

Much better!  It would be a perfect Mother's Day gift filled with pictures of children or grand kids, a friend gift filled with pictures of fun memories or Teacher Appreciation gift with pictures of each student or of activities from that year.  The best part is that you can decorate it to fit the personality of the person that you are making it for :)

Duct Tape Zebra Frame....

I've been going through crafting withdrawals!  Busy life has been getting in the way of my obsession, BOO to that!!!  Last night was the first evening that I had a few minutes so I ran into my craft room and grabbed a few items that I had on hand.

I found this dollar store frame.  We don't own a cat, we don't even really like cats at our house, but I knew that the frame would come in handy when I saw it in the store:

Then I grabbed the roll of hot pink and zebra striped duct tape that I have from some other projects, some chip board letters and an old piece of black plastic.  Here is what I came up with for my cute Kadee gal's room:

It looks so much better than that silly fish bone cat frame!  I added some black sparkly chipboard embellishments to two of the corners.  I cut the black plastic to fit the back of the frame and glued on my sparkly "I" and "U", then I covered the heart circle with some more duct tape and Ta-Da!  I was done in less than 20 minutes!

And the best part is that I was able to somewhat satisfy my craft withdrawals!!!

Sign Made From an Old Board

I found an old board about 2 years ago and refused to throw it away.  Hubs called me a hoarder.  I told him that it had potential and that I was going to make it fabulous.  I've been debating about what to do with it since then:
I didn't think to take a picture of it until after I had put the first coat of white paint on.  Isn't she beautiful?!  As I painted, Hubs again called me a hoarder and teased me.  I told him that he was going to have to admit that I was right and he was wrong when I was finished.  He just rolled his eyes.

Here she is:

Hubs took one look at it and immediately apologized.  Oh ye of little faith!

One of these days he is going to learn to just believe me!  I love how it looks hanging in my kitchen:

I think that I will "Enjoy" it for years to come!

Aprils Hutch...

I got my hutch all decked out for April!

Here is is:

A few of the deco's are things that my cute kiddo's have made for me when they were younger.  I love pulling them out of the box each year!  We are definitely ready for Easter and the month of April around here!

Easter Chick with Egg...

So I needed an "O" for my HOME letters for the month of April.  I drew a pretty pathetic sketch of what I was thinking and sent Hubs to cut it out and prep the wood.  I should have taken a picture of my sketch, it really was sad, but thankfully,  Hubs is amazing and was able to turn it into exactly what I had envisioned.  This is what we came up with:

And here is how he looks on top of my hutch with the HOME letters:

Perfect!  I just love him :)

Easter Egg Wreath...

I have a HUGE box full of Easter eggs.  I'm talking about hundreds of those babies.  When the kiddo's were younger, we used to do a massive hunt with my nieces and nephews.  The kids are older now and we no longer have use for hundreds of plastic eggs, so I am finding ways to repurpose them.  I was able to use over 100 of them by making this:

I picked through my box O' eggs ignoring all the pastel colored ones and grabbed only the brightly colored ones, because I wanted to use my brightly colored gift bag shred to fill in any gaps.
I still have 3/4 of a box full of stinking plastic Easter eggs!  No need to worry though, I have plenty of other ideas as to how to reuse them, it just may not get done this year :)
